Apopo

For over 25 years, APOPO has been a global leader in training scent detection animals. Originally focused on developing a cost-efficient and sustainable mine clearance technology using trained African giant pouched rats, the organization has since expanded its efforts into other humanitarian fields, including tuberculosis (TB) detection. APOPO operates a Training and Innovation Center in Tanzania and conducts mine action operations in Angola, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. The organization’s TB detection research laboratories and programs work with government health systems across Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Supported by an international network of partners, donors, and foundations, APOPO remains dedicated to developing innovative humanitarian and environmental solutions.
